The Club was founded in 1903 as a businessmen’s club for gentlemen of British descent but has developed over the past century to be the social, sports & cultural centre for the english-speaking community in Bangkok. our present clubhouse was opened in 1910 and we received our clubhouse land as a gift from H.M. the King of Siam in 1914. Membership is dependent on being proposed and seconded by two full members in good standing and after interview and election by the General Committee. Canadians may join as annual or ordinary members, the latter with full voting rights. In all we have just over 1,110 memberships. Both men and women may become members.
The Club has reciprocal arrangements with over 340 clubs in 53 countries worldwide, including 25 clubs across eight Canadian provinces. Current members may use these clubs when travelling aboard.
Often called Dan oasis in the heart of Bangkok’, the Club has a compact range of sports and dining facilities on its 1.4 hectare site with a pub, three restaurants, a cocktail bar, a court side café, and on-site tennis courts, squash courts, a fitness centre, cricket nets, a petanque court, a massage service, adult’s and children’s swimming pools, an all-weather sports court and a children’s playground Conference and function facilities are available. the Club organises many events each year for members, such as wine-tastings, quiz nights, fun fairs, gourmet dinners, and lots more. there is also an external catering service.
Ownership: The Club is owned by its ordinary Membership made up of Australian, British, Canadian and New Zealander citizens.
