Tim Hortons Inc. is a Canadian restaurant chain that specializes in coffee, doughnuts, and other food items. It has become Canada's largest quick service restaurant chain (as of December 31, 2018), operating a total of 4,846 restaurants in 14 countries and the company has its headquarters in Toronto.
The company was founded by Canadian hockey player Tim Horton in 1964 in Hamilton, Ontario and Jim Charade (1934–2009). Horton started to join with investor Ron Joyce in 1967. (1930–2019) after opened its first hamburger restaurant. Joyce invested the first Tim Hortons shop in Hamilton and control over the after Horton died in 1974. He expanded the chain into one of the most successful food service chains in the world (a multi-billion-dollar franchise).
RBI (owner of Burger King & Popeye Chicken) agreed to purchase Tim Hortons for US$11.4 billion on August 26, 2014 which is majority-owned by Brazilian investment firm 3G Capital.
